Earth Day, Every Day – 22.04
This year, as the urgency of the climate debate increases and sustainability moves from being a trendy term to a fundamental necessity, we at RICO Elastomere Projecting GmbH in Austria are proud to deliver on our commitments. We prioritize environmental responsibility not because it's trendy but because it's the right thing to do.

World Earth Day
RICO is well-known for producing high-quality silicone components and injection molds, working in a sector that isn't always linked to environmental protection. Nevertheless, we continuously demonstrate that sustainability and accuracy are partners rather than mutually exclusive. From our headquarters in Thalheim bei Wels, we have established a reputation for both technological innovation and reconsidering the impact of that innovation on the planet. Our manufacturing is based on zero-waste objectives, which are mostly met by the use of fully automated injection molding equipment. By streamlining procedures to create precise components without surplus, these tools cut down on material waste at its source.
It's not a goal for the future, it's already happening.
Sustainability is built into our system at RICO. During silicone molding, our cold runner and valve gate technologies drastically cut down on material waste. By making sure that every gram of material has a purpose, we challenge the status quo in industries where scraps and off-cuts are accepted as inevitable. ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management, an international standard that demands quantifiable environmental performance and continuous improvement, supports this strategy. However, certification is not viewed as a checkbox by us. Rather, we ask: What else can we do? using it as a framework.
Beyond Production: An Accountability Philosophy RICO is unique, not only because of our resources or results, but also because of our mindset. There is no distinct department dedicated to sustainability. It lies in the training given to staff members: the maintenance of machines; how energy efficiency, reusability, and recycling are incorporated into projects from the very beginning. To be clear, perfection is not the point here. It has to do with responsibility. Continuous improvement is the cornerstone of our sustainability journey. Because Earth Day should be about real change, made by real people who care, on real factory floors, rather than about pretentious green slogans. This International Mother Earth Day, the call to action is clear: honor the planet not with words, but with work. |
